Abstract

The extremly large amount of vegetal secondary metabolites make from plants important sources of drogues, colorants, biopesticides, food additives, etc. Over 80% of the natural products known have a vegetal origin (Rao and Ravishankar, 2002). Even if the plants are renewable resources, there are species difficult to be cultivated if a sufficient amount for satisfying the growing needs of natural products. The biotechnology offers the opportunity of some secondary metabolites production with economical interest, either by in vitro cells, tissues, organs and the whole organisms culture, either by genetic transformation of plants. Cells, tissues and regenerated plants in artificial culture conditions can manifest high biosynthetic features in comparison of those cultivated in normal conditions, depending of climate, diseases and pests.  The aim of our researches is the genetic variability amplification by the mutagen character exploitation of in vitro cells culture at medicinal plants, for selection of some high production cellular lines of active therapeuticaly substances. We will use molecular markers for genetic stability assessment of this lines. Also, for optimizing production of active biologicaly substances, abiotic and biotic stress factors that stimulate this chemical compounds synthesis will be established. Finaly, we have in view the obtaining of preparation with active principles containing antioxidant and therapeutical characters: bioflavonoids, vitamins, hypoglicemic peptides, etc.
